The first Development Communication Coordinating Network (DEVCOMNET) assembly for CY 2017 was held on April 10, 2017 at The Cocoon Boutique Hotel in Quezon City. The regular activity is an opportunity for various government line agencies and departments, including government-owned and controlled corporations, to exchange information and align their communication strategies for a consistent public messaging of government activities and programs.
The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) presented the Ambisyon 2040 and the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 during the assembly and the cooperation of the various government agencies and offices was enjoined to ensure the cascading and easy understanding of the Plan by all Filipinos.
The Ambisyon 2040 focuses on sustainable development and the assurance that no Filipino will be left behind. NEDA announced that the PDP 2017-2022 Grand Launch will be held on May 22, 2017in Pasay City.
The possible revival of the Philippine Communication Coordinating Network (PHILCOMNET) was also discussed in the assembly, which will serve as a venue to expand a broader network of government information officers within the country.
The activity, hosted by NEDA, was attended by representatives from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Department of Education (DepED), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Philippine National Police (PNP), Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Philippine Institute of Development Studies (PIDS), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Armed Forces of the Philippine – Civil Relations Service (AFP-CRS), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), National Youth Commission (NYC), Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), among others.
The next DEVCOMNET assembly is scheduled in May of 2017 to be hosted by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).
